Call for submissions

The call for submissions is now closed.  

The Transportation and Development Institute of ASCE will host a joint Call for submissions for ICTD and Pavements 2023. Submitters will have the opportunity to submit abstracts specifically for ICTD 2023 or Pavements 2023. The deadline for submissions is October 13, 2022. Abstracts not submitted by the October 13 deadline will not be considered for the 2023 program.

Definitions and expectations for presentations & papers in the conference proceedings

  • PowerPoint presentation at the conference
    Abstracts accepted under this category will be required to prepare a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation and present it in person in Austin, TX at the assigned date and time. Virtual presentations will not be an option. Presenters are responsible for all registration and travel expenses.
  • Poster presentation at the conference
    Abstracts accepted under this category will be required to prepare a Poster for display not to exceed 4' X 4’ and present it in person in Austin, TX at the assigned date and time. Virtual presentations will not be an option. Presenters are responsible for all registration and travel expenses.
  • PowerPoint presentation at the conference, with full paper in the conference proceedings
    Abstracts accepted under this category will be required to prepare a 15-minute PowerPoint presentation and present it in person in Austin, TX at the assigned date and time. Virtual presentations will not be an option. Presenters are responsible for all registration and travel expenses.

Session Proposals 

To submit a session proposal or panel discussion proposal for Pavements 2023 please contact the conference chair Navneet Garg at [email protected]. 

Session proposal must include the name of a moderator, a session title and description and complete abstracts for four presentations on the same topic/theme, along with the name, email address, and affiliation/organization of speaker(s) for each presentation. Full sessions will be scheduled for 90 minutes and may have a maximum of four 15-minute presentations. A 30-minute Q&A will follow the presentations. 

Proposals for panel discussions must include the name of a moderator, a title and full description of the panel discussion and the names, email addresses, and affiliation/organization of all intended panelist. The panel will be scheduled for 90 minutes and may have a maximum of four panelists. 
 

General notes and requirements for submissions

  • Papers are optional, those submitted will be published upon final approval in ASCE’s Proceedings.
  • Abstract submissions will be reviewed for decisions on acceptance. The Conference Steering Committee reserves the right to remove abstracts from a full session on technical grounds and/or add other submitted abstracts that are a better fit for the session.
  • A maximum of three submissions for podium presentation per speaker will be accepted.
  • In cases where an abstract is submitted under a “paper” category, papers will only be included in conference proceedings upon meeting the requirements for final approval.
  • For those intending to submit a paper for the conference, the allowable file type for papers is MS Word. PDFs are not allowed. All papers should be in accordance with ASCE's paper formatting guidelines. Also, registration by the speaker registration deadline of Wednesday, February 8, 2023, is a mandatory requirement for inclusion of a paper in the conference proceedings, if submitted and approved.
  • If your submission is accepted, you will be required to:
    • Register for the conference by the speaker registration deadline of Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
    • Present your PowerPoint and/or Poster presentation, in person at the conference at the assigned session. Virtual presentations will not be an option.
  • ASCE does not reimburse or pay the presenter's costs to attend the conference. All travel and registration expenses are the responsibility of the presenter.

Proceedings

Proceedings will be published online to document this conference. Authors will be required to submit an 8- to 12-page final paper for inclusion in the proceedings. The paper should be in accordance with ASCE paper formatting guidelines. The proceedings will be published and copyrighted by ASCE. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain any necessary permissions or approvals from employers, project owners, or clients prior to submission of the final paper for publication. Material included in your submission from previously published sources, including online sources, may require permission from the copyright holder of that publication or website. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain permission for the reuse of this material and to include the appropriate credit information in the paper.
