Bus and rail

Capital Metro System

The Capital Metro System is Central Texas's most popular transportation service, offering both Metrobus and Metrorail services. For the convenience of its riders, Capital Metro System also offers a MetroRapid bus route and a MetroExpress rail line, both with fewer stops than their counterparts. Bus fares are $1.25 and rail fares are $3.50. Capital Metro System also offers Day Passes for patrons who are making several stops in a single day. Riders can purchase tickets or re-load fares using the Capital Metro Service app.

Carter Transportation shuttle services

Carter Transportation Services specialize in airport transportation, but they can shuttle riders around town, too. Their services are completely customizable. Riders can select the type of vehicle they want, flat or hourly rates, request wheelchair-accessible cars, and schedule pickup at any time - they are open 24 hours a day and will pick up and drop off wherever requested in the Greater Austin Metroplex. Request a ride on the SuperShuttle app.

Bike and scooter rentals – shared micromobility

Austin is one of America's most bike-friendly cities and is committed to making a complete cycling network that's safe, convenient, and fun. The city government has dedicated an entire page of its website to all things bikes - initiatives, information, and bike maps are just the beginning.

Austin MetroBike (formerly B-Cycle)

MetroBike has 77 stations and over 800 bicycles in circulation in the greater Austin area including electric bikes. Start riding for as cheap as $1.09 for a pay-as-you-ride experience or get a 3-day pass for $19.49. Download the B-Cycle app to find a location and get moving. Other shared micromobility options include Bird Bike, Lime, Superpedestrian, and Wheels.

Pedicabs

There are tons of pedicab options available in Austin. You can book rides on their websites or just hang around 6th Street to easily find one.

Ride sharing services, car rentals, limousines, and taxis

At Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, taxi and rideshare pickups are on the ground level at the Ground Transportation Center at the Rental Car Facility. Pickup directions depend on whether or not the passenger has checked luggage. This video details how to get there from baggage claim and this video shares how to get get directly there. One-way rides between the airport and downtown range from $20-$40. Travelers can also arrange for a limo, rental car, or taxi ride in advance. In downtown Austin, Uber, Lyft, and metered taxis offer in-city transportation from local drivers. All rides can be scheduled using smartphone apps.
